Chulalongkorn University
Chulalongkorn University is the oldest university in Thailand founded in 1917. At the present, there are 45,000 students in all fields of study. Department of Chemistry has accepted 200 undergraduates in chemistry program and applied chemistry (international) program each year. In addition, the Department has serviced to 3,000 first-year students from all science related faculties, in both lectures and chemistry laboratory classes. We
have offered two graduate programs on “chemistry” and “green chemistry and sustainability”. Moreover, the Department has taken part in the joint graduate programs, including “Petrochemistry”, “Biotechnology” and “Environmental Science”. The number of new graduate students altogether is accepted each year around 150 students.
B.Sc. in Chemistry; B.Sc. in Applied Chemistry; M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemistry; M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Green Chemistry and Sustainability.
Department of chemistry at Chulalongkorn University has offered the green chemistry course for the third-year undergraduates in the applied chemistry program (international B.Sc. program) since 2006. Currently, we have also offered another two elective courses for our graduate students: “Green and Sustainable Chemistry” and “Advanced Technology in Green Chemistry”.
Moreover, the Department has launched the new International Graduate Curriculum on “Green Chemistry and Sustainability”, accepting the graduate students in August 2021. We
have three compulsory classes: “Green and Sustainable Chemistry”, “Advanced Technology in Green Chemistry” and “Toxicology Chemistry & Management”.
–
- Introduce the concept of green chemistry through all chemistry courses whenever practicable.
- Develop and adjust the experiments in the chemistry laboratory classes towards greening the laboratory
- Design the research projects to increasingly involve green chemistry
