Award Description: Beyond Benign's Community Grant Awards are designed to build educator and / or student capacity for green chemistry teaching and learning. We welcome all educators and students in K-12 and Higher Education settings from around to globe to submit a proposal for activities or projects between $250 and $1,000. Examples of eligible projects or activities include but are not limited to conference travel and registration, supplies for labs or outreach activities, chemistry club projects, teaching assistant stipends, course buy-outs for curriculum or lab changes.

Dow 2024-2025 Green Chemistry Education Awards

Award Description: The Green Chemistry Education Awards aims to support the integration of green chemistry education into courses and curricula with financial aid to achieve impactful change. Strong applications will receive funding to achieve the following goals: Increase the awareness of green chemistry and the Green Chemistry Commitment (GCC) program across the chemistry department and institution. Increase awareness of the institution’s dedication to green chemistry education through conference attendance, webinars, publications, social media campaigns, etc. Transform curriculum and lab procedures to achieve the GCC’s Green Chemistry Student Learning Objectives so all chemistry majors, upon graduation, have proficiency in the following essential green chemistry competencies: Theory, Toxicology, Laboratory Skills & Application.

Funding Level: $1,000, $2,500, $5,000 and $10,000, 30% of the total grant funding will be awarded to Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) in the Green Chemistry Commitment (GCC) Program.
Eligibility Requirements: To apply your institution must be a Green Chemistry Commitment (GCC) Signer. Please ensure your Commitment forms are submitted to any member of the Higher Education team for your application to be considered.

K-12 Green Chemistry Education Awards

Award Description: These Green Chemistry Education awards for K-12 educators are designed to support the integration of green chemistry into educational settings. Beyond Benign hopes to empower and support K-12 educators to prepare their students with the skills to innovate for a sustainable future through these grants. Award Amount: Up to $1,000 First Deadline for Application: December 1, 2024 Award winners announced January 15 2025. Award must be applied by August 31, 2025 (contact K-12 Community Engagement Manager for exceptions) In the past, these awards have empowered K-12 educators to attend and present at conferences, fund classroom projects, develop, host, and attend workshops, and fund supplies for activities. These are just a few examples! K-12 educators are infinitely resourceful.
