Brown University

The Chemistry Department at Brown University has redesigned the organic chemistry teaching laboratories to use greener reagents and conditions and to focus explicitly on green chemistry learning objectives. Green chemistry is also incorporated into upper level elective courses and a subject of student and faculty research.
Chemistry Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Chemistry Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Chemistry Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Physics.
Organic Chemistry, Faculty Research, Student Research, green chemistry-infused upper level elective course.

A short term goal is focusing more on green chemistry in the introductory course laboratory. A long term goal is developing a resource to introduce organic chemistry students to more modern and greener reaction conditions in the lecture component of their course. We would also like to offer more professional development for researchers to help them make greener choices where possible.
