1. Teaching Labs:
Sustainable Practices: Implement green chemistry practices in all teaching laboratories. This includes using less hazardous reagents, reducing waste, and recycling solvents.
Green Chemistry Lab Manual: Develop a green chemistry lab manual for students, featuring experiments that adhere to the 12 principles of green chemistry.
2. Curriculum Integration:
Green Chemistry Modules: Integrate green chemistry principles into existing chemistry courses, ensuring that every student is introduced to these concepts.
Toxicology Course: Develop and offer a stand-alone course on toxicology, emphasizing the environmental and health impacts of chemical substances.
3. Student Engagement:
Green Chemistry Club: Establish a student-led Green Chemistry Club to promote awareness and involvement in green chemistry initiatives.
Research Projects: Encourage undergraduate and postgraduate research projects focused on green chemistry, providing funding and faculty support.
4. Policy and Leadership:
Institutional Policies: Develop and implement institutional policies that prioritize green chemistry in procurement, waste management, and laboratory practices.
Leadership: Position Akwa Ibom State University as a leader in green chemistry education and research in Nigeria.
