How did you connect with Beyond Benign?
Originally I incorporated Beyond Benign’s early middle school curriculum working with crayons. Then I came back to test out their curriculum for shampoo, Chemistry with a Conscience.
What first drew you into teaching and science education?
Science education draws upon the knowledge of the past and challenges us to discover and develop for the future, through the lens of growing minds. I always found the most interesting learning experiences were when I was curious about how things work – and learning and making mistakes during the process.
What excites you most about teaching green chemistry?
Green chemistry, especially in the middle school level, allows students to be exposed to experiences that actually impact and relate to their daily lives. It adds a social responsibility to how science is done and how humans impact the environment and themselves.
