Join NYS Master Teachers to discuss how they have “greened” their chemistry classroom. How? In collaboration with Beyond Benign, a national organization devoted to sustainability in the chemistry classroom, NYS Master Teachers have redesigned traditional chemistry labs lesson plans to reduce and/or eliminate the use or generation of hazardous substances while remaining NYS Science Learning Standards-(NYSSLS)-aligned. Using sustainability as a framework, these teachers highlight New York State industries that practice green chemistry in their classrooms. The teachers will share direct lesson plans and labs, from conducting a green inventory to removing harmful chemicals. Engage your students in the science of solutions guided by an interdisciplinary approach to environmental sustainability.
