Tessa Faulks is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Chemistry at Monash University as part of the ARC Green Chemistry in Manufacturing centre. Her research in collaboration with industry partner, Sonic Essentials Pty Ltd. focuses on developing innovative coating technologies for urea to improve nitrogen delivery to soil/plant systems.
Raised in Melbourne, Tessa enjoyed a balanced upbringing between city and country lifestyle fostering, her early interest in agriculture. Following her passion, she pursued a degree in Science at University. Prior to commencing her Ph.D., Tessa gained valuable experience as a research and development chemist at Sonic Essentials Pty Ltd, enriching her expertise in applied chemistry, assisting in production processes and identifying potential product advancements.
Since embarking on her Ph.D., Tessa has been deeply involved in the Chemistry Green Connections program, leading outreach initiatives aimed at enhancing green chemistry education in schools, particularly in underserved communities. This experience has ignited her passion for education and knowledge sharing, driving her commitment to sustainability and empowering others through education.
Outside of academia, Tessa enjoys spending time outdoors, working on the farm, socializing, and playing sports.
