Beyond Benign

Andy Dalton

Dalton, Andy

As the Environmental, Health and Safety manager for a manufacturing facility, Andy enjoys daily opportunities to influence the practical application of many philosophies shared by Beyond Benign. In his role, he develops and audits systems to promote pollution prevention, process safety, safer design and workforce education.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Bates College, he took a temporary detour to work as an outdoor educator.  Upon emerging from the woods, he has spent the past 15 years in the specialty chemicals industry, starting as a lab technician and progressing through EHS roles at Cabot Corporation, Ashland Specialty Ingredients, and now PPG.

Along the way, he earned a master’s degree in Work Environment from UMass Lowell with a concentration in Cleaner Production and Pollution Prevention.  He also holds the professional designations of CSP (Certified Safety Professional) and CET (Certified Environmental, Safety and Health Trainer), and is currently pursuing the CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager) certification.

Community relations have been a consistent and vital part of his professional journey.  That is how he came to know Beyond Benign and how he continues to meet and support passionate teachers on the front line of STEM education.
